The Clearwater Sun, which celebrated its 94th birthday last month, was founded in 1914 and predates the Senator (born in 1936) by 22 years.  The Senator, however, is older than duct tape, the shopping cart, The Billboard Hot 100, the margarita cocktail, the minimum wage, Preparation H, Carmina Burana, Look Magazine, the extinction of the Burmese Tiger and Woman's  Day Magazine.

Billed as "Ming and Toy," the man (Ming) plays ukulele, accordion and cracks stereotype jokes. He plays a prestissimo version of "Sweet Sue - Just You" then does a little juggling. His little friend, Toy, breaks into a Cab Calloway impersonation, while singing "Sing a Little Low Down Tune."

Senator McCain, who has health problems, is running for an office know to age its occupants.  The Sun questions whether he can stand up to the meat-grinder that the Oval Office is known to be.

The link is to the 1961 Token's version, which incorporates some new elements belonging to Pete Seeger.This song was written in 1938 by Solomon Linda (right), a South African Zulu composer and singer.  The song has long been the subject of copyright infringement and theft.  The Disney corporation settled an infringement claim by paying an undisclosed settlement to the family of Mr. Linda who had sued the American mega-corporation for $1.5 Million.  The song was used in the movie, The Lion King. 

Co-written by Phil Spector, this song was in the top ten on the Bill Board Pop list.  It is on Rolling Stone Magazine's top 500 songs of all time.  The link is to a 1961 recording.

This 1961 recording is Etta James' theme song.  It crossed over from R&B, getting into The Billboard Hot 100 songs.

The 1961 Music from West Side Story was written by Leonard Bernstein.  The movie won ten Oscars including Best Picture.  Elvis Presley, who passed on the lead part, regretted his decision.  The story was based  on William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
