Aloha in the Hawaiian language means affection, love, peace, compassion and mercy. Since the middle of the 19th century, it also has come to be used as a greeting to say goodbye and hello.

Mitch Mitchell invented fusion drumming.  He is best known for his work as the drummer for Jimmi Hendrix.  Mr. Mitchell played in his power trio at Woodstock three years after joining the group.
He also performed in sessions with Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Keith Richards and Muddy Waters.
The talented musician died of natural causes at age 61 and was performing until shortly before his death.  He was the last living member of the original Hendrix Experience group.
Jimi Hendrix was noted for showmanship that included smashing guitars and amplifiers.  He was also known to burn guitars on stage.  The remains of the first guitar that he burned on stage was sold at auction last month for 280,000 British pounds ($438,095).

The Spirit of Scott Snow

The Clearwater Sun bids a hearty Aloha! to Scott Snow, who left this life last Sunday, May 4, 2008.  The painting, The Spirit of Scott Snow, above, captures but a hint of his soaring, adventurous spirit.  A loving husband, devoted father, successful software developer and businessman, musician, singer, composer, pilot and friend to many, Scott was active in his church and community, helping others all along the way.  Few are more fun-loving and able than this western explorer and gifted student of the Boston Conservatory of Music.  To someone to be inspired by, someone who spread joy, Aloha.

Aloha to George Switzer, Moon Rock Scientist and courier of the Hope Diamond!

Moon Rocks Are Priceless

George Switzer, 92, was a scientist at the Smithsonian Institute.  He studied Moon rocks and was instrumental in obtaining the Hope Diamond for the Institute.  When it came time to transport the diamond to Washington, Mr. Switzer just carried it himself.  He thought it would be the safest way; and it worked.

There are three sources of Moon rocks: the U.S. and Soviet era missions and volcanic rocks which fell to Earth.  The mission rocks are believed to be priceless, though NASA valued a stolen sample in a court case for $1,000,000.  Natural Moon rocks are very expensive and are traded freely among collectors.  You can touch a piece of the moon at the Kennedy Space Center.

Learn the violin at home. CD's and high quality violins are available.  Students have gone on to play first chair and Carnegie Hall.

Just released!  The family Gospel Book. Good fun for the whole family.

See the composer and her smokin' violin.
