Local Man Takes Heroic Action
Clearwater resident David Rosen stopped his car Wednesday night and ran to the aid of a wheelchair bound man whose wheel had fallen off in the middle of the street. The intrepid business man went into traffic to save the street-bound invalid. After making the rescue, Mr. Rosen went the extra mile, or extra several blocks, serving as spotter, attendant and spare tire to escort the handicapped man home. Mr. Rosen is the executive director for
The Violin Book Dot Com, a program for self-teaching children and adults, using a series of
string books written by his wife, Professor Eden Vaning-Rosen. -Story by Gumer, Sun Staff Cartoonist

Philippe Benseniot, a French doctor was walking in Paris when his son alerted him to the danger. The child had been left alone by her parents when she fell off the building. In the photo illustration above you can see how the child fell into an awning below, then bounced out and into the arms of the good doctor who caught her. The hero examined the young girl and found her to be unharmed.

wood for truck fire

When Justin drove supply trucks in Iran for the U.S. he was well aware of the danger to drivers from improvised explosive devices. Now, as a driver for WSI hauling waste for Clearwater residents he thought he was out of the soup. But then things turned hot. At the end of a small street North of Bellair Road, a street lined with overhanging trees and upscale houses, his load caught fire.

"I saw the whole thing," said Clearwater resident Kathy Baird. His load was on fire and he moved it out of danger of catching trees and houses on fire. He got to the end of the little dead end street and put the load on the ground - not quite onto Bellair Road, but as far out from the houses as he could get it. And the guy had to negotiate the heavy Belleair traffic too. In fact, my husband had to go around him when he got to the end of the street, sticking out a little bit - and he put that flaming load right on the concrete. This gentleman was one cool cucumber." Aerosol cans and glass bottles exploded as the blazing trash got hotter, sounding like a combat zone. The Largo F. D. arrived and were putting out the blaze when a bystander called Justin's attention to his truck, which was on fire again. Without hesitation the former solider climbed to the top of his truck and fought the new fire, putting it out with his company issued extinguisher. Very cool !! - C. Perry

Exotic Pipe Seen In Clearwater

Aesthetics are important in life. A pretty pipe is pleasing. Check out this beauty which Sun staff photographer Kody Moe saw at Budget Storage on Drew Street in Clearwater.
"It was amazing," Kody said. "The gentleman looked like a handsome Old Man of the Sea. It was a hot looking pipe and he was proud of it."
The pipes owner, David, said that he got the idea from his brother. After doing
research on the internet he found the animal head carved pipe that perfectly suits

his visage. "It's imported from Turkey," he added. (Displayed in the illustration above, the smoke and flame were added by the photographer)
